Plan the journey.
Clarify the terms and conditions.

Taxi Castellane provides CPAM-approved medical taxi services to healthcare facilities, particularly in Marseille, Aix-en-Provence and Nice. The pick-up point, destination and times are agreed with the team.

A practical exchange

Please provide the location, date and time of the trip. The team will advise you on any documents that may be required and the appropriate method of submission.

THE STEPS

Step by step, simply.

The referral

Your doctor will issue a medical referral for transport, normally before the journey (except in emergencies).

Documents

Please bring the referral, your Vitale card and your up-to-date certificate of entitlement, as well as your supplementary health insurance card if you have one.

Prior authorisation

Certain journeys (long-distance journeys, a series of journeys) require the health insurance fund’s approval before departure. Your doctor will let you know if this applies to you.

Booking

Please call us with the location, date, time and, if necessary, the return journey.

On the day of travel

Show your documents to the driver. You may have an amount to pay, depending on the French health insurance rules.

Reimbursement

The rate depends on your circumstances (long-term illness, work-related accident, etc.). Find out more at ameli.fr or from your health insurance fund.

USEFUL ANSWERS

Before you go.

Do I need a prescription?

For possible reimbursement under the French Assurance Maladie (CPAM), a medical transport prescription from your doctor is generally required. Without one, the journey may not qualify for reimbursement.

Is a licensed taxi reimbursed?

Reimbursement depends on your circumstances and the rules of the French health insurance scheme. The applicable rate is shown on ameli.fr or provided by your health insurance fund; our team will advise you on what documents you need to present.

What do you need to show the driver?

Your medical transport prescription, your Vitale card and your up-to-date certificate of entitlement.

What information should I provide for a CPAM-approved medical taxi journey?

Please provide your departure point, destination, date, preferred pick-up time and, if necessary, the time of your appointment. Do not provide any medical diagnosis. The team will advise you which documents to prepare.

Are the outward and return journeys organised together?

Please provide details of the full journey. The times and availability for each leg of the journey must be confirmed.
